Sofi Zezmer

Sofi Zezmer is a visual artist of Polish descent. She pursued her education in the US, at the New York University (1980), the Cooper Union College for Advancement of Science and Art (BFA, 1986), and the Hunter College (MA, 1993). Since 1995, she has been based in Wiesbaden, Germany. Her solo exhibitions include those at Ron Lang Art Gallery, Amsterdam (2016); DWD Gallery, Frankfurt am Main (2015); The Richard J. Massey Foundation, New York (2014); Mike Weiss Gallery, New York (2010; 2007; 2004), Museum Wiesbaden, Germany (2008); and Gregory Lind Gallery, San Francisco (2005). Her work has been exhibited at numerous institutions worldwide, including: Nouvelles Images Galerie, The Hague (2016); Nassauischer Kunstverein Wiesbaden and Frankfurter Kunstverein (2015); Galerie oqbo, Space for Image Word Sound, Berlin (2013); International Biennale of Sculpture, Tilburg, Netherlands (2011); The Funen Art Museum, Odense, Denmark (2011); The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan (2005); BWA Awangarda Gallery, Wrocław, Poland (2004). The artist creates collages, photographs, three-dimensional objects and site-specific installations. She works in various media, juxtaposing glass, metal, wood, plastic and objects of everyday use.
Zezmer’s work is found in public and private collections in Denmark, Austria, Germany, Poland, France, the Netherlands, the US, Switzerland, Israel, New Zealand, and Italy.
