Takesada Matsutani

was born in 1937 in Osaka, Japan. He studied nihonga, traditional Japanese painting. In 1963-1972, he was a member of the legendary art group, Gutai. His works are included in numerous museum collections, most notably: Centre Pompidou in Paris; National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo; Victoria &Albert Museum in London; The Albertina in Vienna.

He works in painting, sculpture and print-making. He employs glue to create a singular kind of textural relief on his canvas. Currently, he lives and works in Paris. He is represented by Hauser & Wirth.
